May 10th, Fresquez Promotions will be celebrating its 25th year in existence by putting on JW Fight Night 5 at the Isleta Resort and Casino. The card features several Jackson Wink MMA Academy athletes including headliner Steve "Mean Machine" Garcia.
Garcia will be going into this event with a record of 8-3 and last competed at JW Fight Night 4 where he earned a hard fought and bloody unanimous decision against an experienced opponent. He will be taking on Andrew "The Beast" Whitney who holds a record of 16-6 and trains out of the American Top Team camp in Boca Raton, Florida. Garcia is looking to get the win over another seasoned veteran to prove that he should be competing with the best fighters and validate that he belongs in a top organization.
Will "Brown Bomber" Santiago will be fighting in the co-main event. Santiago fights out of Jackson Wink MMA Academy and holds a record of 9-6. He is looking to get back in the win column as he takes on Jared "Night Train" Gooden. Gooden trains out of X3 Sports in Duluth, Georgia, holds a record of 13-3, and is also coming off a loss in his last fight.
Also on the Card, JW fighter Kenan "The Lion" Jackson will be making his professional debut against David Simpson, who fights out of United Front in Richmond, Virginia. Jackson has compiled a 6-1 amateur record and is ready to take the next step in his career. A little sleep is the only thing he plans to lose with this opportunity. In regard to this fight, he said, "I feel ecstatic about it! It was hard for me to fall asleep last night because I was so excited thinking about it. True story"
Other JW fighters set with matches on the card include Edwin Cooper Jr., Kayla Yontef, and Randy Baker. Cooper will be looking to stay undefeated and pick up his second professional victory.
